Winter may be the most challenging season of the year for the Western cultures. Winter is a time of disconnecting from the outside world, and focusing on building a rich, inner landscape. It is from this prosperous and delicious inner world that our outer world recreates in the Spring. Yet in the West, where action is worshiped above all else - it really doesn't matter what we're DOING, as long as we're DOING something PRODUCTIVE - most of us are running out of resources. And that has very little to do with Wall Street or Big Pharma or the banking system, and everything to do with the fact that we have been neglecting our inner world.

Your imagination is connected to everything that ever has been or ever will be thought of. Think of that. What an amazing thing - that right now, you are connected energetically to every thought or feeling that has ever been in existence or ever will be (although technically, since time only exists in the 3rd dimension, all thoughts and feelings always have been and always will be - but that's another newsletter!).

So, if our imagination is connected to such a wealth of information, why is our world suffering from an imagination drought? Why do we play the same old tapes over and over in our heads? Why do the majority of our "what-if" question concern our fears rather than our joys?

There are many stories to explain this. "We're being manipulated by television and the media". "We lost our memory when we came to this world and are striving to recover it". "The power elite doesn't want us to understand our true power". Etc. etc. It really doesn't matter what story you have - they're all just stories. The question to ask yourself is, what am I doing with this tremendous imagination I have? How am I putting it to use? What kind of world am I dreaming into existence, day after day, week after week? What am I creating with my power??

The main reason we lack imagination is we have forgotten our receptive nature. When we are so busy, we do not listen to the still, small voices that whisper from our heart. We hear only those voices that criticize, and complain, and point out our faults. Winter is a time to quiet the shrillness of modern life, and let the sounds of the stars feed us new ideas and new visions of a world of immense satisfaction.

This next three months offer a unique opportunity to take charge of your life and create something new. The first thing I would suggest is turn off your television for 3 months. I know, OMG, it's always hard to let go of an addiction. But if you take that television time, which harnesses your imagination towards someone else's stories, and use that time to create your own story - you will definitely see a change in your life. If your life was a novel, what would you like it to be? An action/adventure? How would that look? What energizes you? What excites you? Is it a romance novel? Then work on the specifics of the what, where, and how - the who will show up when you are clear about story. Do you want to live a drama? (as though you weren't already!!). What KIND of drama do you want? The drama of not enough? Or the drama of miraculous and momentous experiences? You're the writer here. Work on your story. Even if you don't believe it, pretend. As Betty Montour says, "fake it 'til you make it". If you pretend and believe in your story, it will come true.

And, since November is National Write a Novel month (nanowrimo.org) why not take your story a step further, and write it down? Who knows? This could be the start of fame and fortune previously undreamed of!!

Blessings!

Winter is the time of receiving. If we are too busy to hear the messages coming to us, we will be unable to create our life anew when Spring arives.
